Recently I’ve been overwhlemed with good news for my songs. I posted earlier this year about “You Can’t Hold It” being up for the CMT Listener’s Choice award, and although I didn’t win, I can now officially report that I received over 10,000 votes, earning a 6th place finish overall, and gaining some new listeners in the process. Sounds like a win to me! I am also thrilled to report these other big songwriting wins:
2010 John Lennon Songwriting Contest - Grand Prize Winner, Inspirational category, for “Christmas Lights”
2010 John Lennon Songwriting Contest – Finalist, Country category, for “Big Red Bow”
2010 International Songwriting Competition – Semi-Finalist, Country category, for “You’re The One”
18th Annual Billboard Worldwide Song Contest – 2nd Place, Country category, for “You’re The One”
2010 Song Of The Year Songwriting Contest – 1st Place, Pop category, for “Closer”
As a Grand Prize Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, I’ve already won some really cool recording equipment and other prizes, but most importantly, fans will now have a chance to vote “Christmas Lights” into the final round of judging. This round will determine Song of the Year, and, folks, the JLSC Song of the Year wins **are you ready for this** a $20,000 check! Fingers crossed that its a jumbo. I will post an update as soon as the JLSC voting site is up and running, so that you can help me WIN! As many of you know from reading about how this song came about, “Christmas Lights” is a special song to me, which makes the honor it has received even more rewarding.
